Changes made to South Island Line

The government gazetted the latest amendments to the proposed South Island Line yesterday. The 7km rail link between Admiralty and South Horizons will have three intermediate stations - near Ocean Park, in Wong Chuk Hang and in Lei Tung Estate. The changes were made in response to a public consultation in September and the latest engineering design by MTR Corp.

Concerns over big MTR Corp housing estate

The government and the MTR Corporation are proposing to build 4,700 private residential flats on the site of the former public Wong Chuk Hang Estate, but the project's proposed building height has been opposed by district councillors there.

Hong Kong offers an abundance of places to take your dog for walks

If you have a dog, you probably have to take it out for a walk at least a couple times a day. For Kirsten Mitchell, she takes her seven dogs out for a walk four times a day. Once at 6.30am for a quick 40 minutes, then at about 9am for a long two-to-three hour hike, next at about 3.30pm, and finally at 6.30pm for their last walk of the day.

Boy, 16, undergoes brain surgery for blood clot

A schoolboy had brain surgery at Queen Mary Hospital after feeling unwell at Yu Chun Keung Memorial No 2 College in Pok Fu Lam yesterday. Tung Chun-him, 16, felt dizzy after doing a warm-up exercise during physical education in the school's playground around 11am. 'He had a blood clot in his brain,' the school's vice principal, Chan Wing-kin said.
