Fun way to track expenses

If you find writing down expenses, adding them and drawing up budgets boring or frightening, try these tips.

Use colour: Use pens of different colour to write the units - the 10s, the 100s etc.

Use the computer: Create a nice spreadsheet with colours and fancy drawings. Make sure the formulae are right.

Corrections & clarifications

Yesterday's Hong Kong stock price listings on page B14 gave incorrect 52-week highs and lows. A spreadsheet manipulation error pushed the figures down one row, leading to the mismatch. We apologise for any confusion caused.

P&I club extends Internet service

UK Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Club members can access their claims data through the club's extended Web site.

The club said the data, contained in the ClaimsTrac database, offered members a major new facility for claims analysis.

Pack of bundles for SOHO crowd

Microsoft has unveiled two special application bundles aimed at the SOHO (small office home office) and consumer market in Hong Kong for PC users running Windows 95.

The Word and Publisher Value Pack is a CD-ROM pack with Microsoft's word-processing program Word and Publisher, the program that creates newsletters, brochures and other documents.

It's never too late to try

Paul showed me a Popular Electronics story about the 'era of the computer in every home', and the two of us decided that software was the future.
