My best friend is a phlebotomist. What's that? Oh, don't you know? He draws blood from people who have to have hospital tests. And another friend is a toxicologist. He works with poisons. What do your friends do?

Much of the dark humour of the first half of Ronald Harwood's The Dresser appeared to sail over the heads of a supportive, but largely uncomprehending, first-night audience, who laughed nervously in response to the most obvious cues but failed altogether to respond to the subtler asides.

Lawyer turns talents to the stage

Neville Sarony SC (pictured) is showing he can stand on his own two feet - not only in the courtroom but on stage as well.

The lawyer has worked on trying to clear the name of the former head of the Narcotics Bureau, Sin Kam-wah, who has been jailed for three years for accepting free sex from prostitutes. Not an easy task - but neither is acting on stage.
