Cleaner dies

A cleaner, 36, died when he fell from a ladder in Man Yue Street, Hunghom. A police sergeant was electrocuted when he climbed the ladder to investigate. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Fall killed boy during game

A boy fell from a seven-metre ladder to his death while searching for friends on top of a water tank during a game of hide-and-seek, an inquest heard yesterday.

Coroner Rodney Venning ruled Cheng Man-kit, 12, died as a result of misadventure. He said the playmates had gone 'well beyond the bounds of what was reasonable and safe play'.

Cat stays put

A CAT frustrated six policemen, four firemen and an RSPCA officer yesterday when it refused to be rescued from a 12-metre tree in Sheung Wan. The animal climbed out of reach as firemen with a ladder and the RSPCA official with a net moved in. After a number of attempts, the team gave up, deciding to let the cat climb down from the tree in Po King Square by itself.
