Eye on style

Hongkongers have never bought into the British tradition of wearing hats, but then again there's never been a high-end boutique dedicated to selling them. WHY HATS? When I arrived at St Martins [School of Art, as it was formerly known, in London] I didn't know how to sew; I had never even threaded a needle. Our tailoring tutor offered to help and I went to work at Lachasse, the small couture establishment he owned, during my summer holidays.

Simple tunes, complex man

As a musician I'm a bit stupid and very simple. I hate complicated music - stuff with too many notes. The music I listen to . . . I prefer it to be simple; I don't want to be Eric Clapton.' So says Stephen Jones, prime mover behind British band Babybird, and the man responsible for the smash-hit single You're Gorgeous a couple of years ago. But don't be duped.
