Stereophonic Sound

Crystal clear

Loyal Walkman users can take heart that, with its NWZ-S610F series of portable media players, Sony has not forgotten its core market of audiophiles.

24-hour channel is feasible

I wrote to RTHK, asking for a 24-hour Putonghua channel.

Currently it only broadcasts for 16 hours a day.

I still believe it would be feasible to have a 24-hour station.

As the daytime programmes are rather good they could be repeated at night and early in the morning.

Good move

I couldn't agree more with John Guest (letter headlined, ' 'Whole film' refreshing experience', South China Morning Post, May 7), about the pleasures of seeing a film in its proper 'pillar box' format (and what he didn't mention, with stereo, not Nicam, sound).

Second-rate production

CONGRATULATIONS to TVB for their outstanding coverage of the 40th Macau Grand Prix, not.

The Nicam coverage in English was disgraceful, not only was it simply unavailable for the most part, was amateurish and uninformative when Murray Walker was away from the microphone, four to five hours of the theme to St Elmo's Fire was enough to drive anybody to suicide.

Apple puts bite into sound with wireless MacStereo

THE tiny speaker in my Macintosh just does not do it for me.

I understand that just about every Macintosh produces high-quality, stereophonic sound without having to purchase additional hardware.

The only problem is that all of this wonderful sound comes out of a little junky mono speaker inside the Mac.
