Firm blown away by big Typhoon Club response

A newly-launched monthly bi-lingual magazine for Primary Four to Form Two students, Typhoon Club, has received 1,000 subscription orders in two weeks. Company director Mark Cowley said it had received 50 calls a day from parents inquiring about the publication, which he hoped would make learning English more fun for students. The magazine will go on general sale early next year.

Comic-book publisher Culturecom Holdings says shareholders should be aware that subscription rights attached to outstanding 2001 registered warrants expire on March 19. The subscription price is HK$2.35 each.

I-Cable offers referral incentives to boost subscriptions

I-Cable Communications is offering half price referral incentives to subscribers.

The one-month offer, which comes before three other pay-TV operators join the market by the middle of this year, is aimed at adding up to 5,000 subscribers to its existing 520,000 customer base before Valentine's Day.

Dah Bang in $56.5m new issue setback

THE new issue of Dah Bang (Holdings), with Standard Chartered Asia among its underwriters, has been under-subscribed.

The printing machinery distributor has only seen a 80 per cent subscription rate for its $56.5 million issue.

It represents one of the few under-subscriptions in the territory's history of new issues.

Beiren's H issue popular

SUBSCRIPTIONS to Beiren Printing Machinery Holdings closed yesterday with merchant bankers forecasting the issue of 100 million H shares would be 20 to 30 times subscribed.

The issue was of one yuan shares at 2.30 yuan each payable in Hongkong dollars at $2.08.

Estimates of the subscription level of Guangzhou Shipyards remains at around 60 times.
