Property developer Chung Hwa Development Holdings has been hit with litigation seeking more than $20 million from it as guarantor for an alleged unpaid loan.

Sumitomo Bank filed a writ at the High Court seeking the sum of $20 million, along with interest amounting to $667,397.

Troubled construction company Tak Wing Investment (Holdings) faces court action over an alleged $20.4 million debt with Sumitomo Bank.

The company had failed to pay the sum, owed as an overdraft with the bank since August 4, according to a High Court writ.

Hwa Kay Thai executive chairman Wong Chong-shan is facing legal action over a HK$27.2 million debt to Sumitomo Bank.

Wong, also known as Keeree Kanjanapas, has failed to make any payments despite a demand from Sumitomo's solicitors on June 11, according to a High Court writ.

Shipbuilder Sumitomo Heavy Industries says its group net profit for the year ended March 31 will fall because of poor sales by the parent company and subsidiaries.
