Supreme rises to the occasion

Even Longwah Supreme's most ardent supporters had given up on the four-year-old returning with a win by the time the Chinese Recreation Club Challenge Cup field got to the home turn, but the gelding lifted his game in time to keep his record unbeaten and confirm himself as one of the most promising horses.

'Derek's ride made him look good - maybe better than he is'

Trainer John Moore was happy to hand the credit to recently graduated rider Derek Leung Ka-chun when Supreme Knight won his third race for the season. Supreme Knight camped on a soft tempo set by Arion Of Chiu Ton, then outran him in the straight to win clearly, but Moore wasn't getting carried away. 'I think Derek's ride made him look good - maybe better than he is.

Sale settles action

Home appliance maker Anex International Holdings has agreed to sell its 30 per cent stake in Supreme Investment Holding to Supreme's founder shareholders for $17.07 million. The deal settles a legal action taken out against Anex by Supreme's founders. Anex said the settlement would have no material impact on its operations.

A TRAUMATIC day for claimer Alex K. S. Yu ended on an upbeat note when Seven Glory (5-1) scored a surprisingly straightforward victory in the final event on the card.

The market was dominated by hat-trick-hunting Fireball (5-2 favourite) and Supreme Universe (4-1), both handy young gallopers with excellent form behind them.
