A chance to see a cool version of Swan Lake

Winter in Hong Kong might not get cold enough for snow, but that doesn't mean Swan Lake can't freeze over and be turned from a ballet to an ice skating show at the Lyric Theatre of the Academy for Performing Arts from November 27 to December 9. Produced by Lunchbox Productions, it features the Imperial Ice Stars, made up of numerous top former Russian and European skate competitors.

The school has nurtured many aspiring dancers and is one of the biggest institutions of its kind in the world.

Talented dancers to take flight

Audience members at Swan Lake, presented by the Christine Liao School of Ballet, will have a chance to guess which of the 120 dancing swans might become top ballerinas.

Over the past four decades, the school has nurtured many talented dancers, such as Ravenna Tucker - former Royal Ballet principal dancer - and Linda Fung, a former Hong Kong Ballet soloist.

Ballet dancers set to celebrate

Hong Kong Ballet will showcase its dancers' creativity this month with Celebrate January with Classics

and Beyond.

The show, at City Hall, will feature seven dancers' own choreography, while excerpts from classic works such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Don Quixote will also be performed.

Swan Lake treat for guests

A joint fund-raising gala evening organised by children's charities Treats and Playright was held at the Grand Hyatt's Tiffin Lounge.

More than 200 people attended the champagne buffet reception, which was followed by the final performance of Swan Lake by the English National Ballet at the Convention Centre. Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan was guest of honour.
