Britain in vaccination warning over measles outbreak

A measles outbreak has affected 800 people in Britain, where up to two million schoolchildren are believed to be unprotected due to a scare which wrongly linked the vaccine with autism. The outbreak is centred on Swansea, in south Wales, but health experts warn there is a risk the virus could spread.

Swansea produced the second surprise English League Cup semi-final first leg result in as many days after defeating Chelsea 2-0 at the European champions’ Stamford Bridge ground on Wednesday.

If not as great an upset as fourth-tier Bradford City’s 3-1 win over Premier League Aston Villa on Tuesday, Swansea’s victory over their top flight rivals was still a surprise.

Van Persie 'could have been killed' says angry United boss

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson claimed Robin Van Persie could have been killed after the Dutch striker was hit on the back of the head with the ball in the 1-1 draw against Swansea.

Ferguson vented his fury at the 75th-minute incident at the Liberty Stadium that led to Ashley Williams and Van Persie being booked.

Vertonghen sends Spurs into top four

Tottenham rekindled their push for Champions League qualification by overcoming Swansea 1-0 yesterday to return to the Premier League's top four.

Jan Vertonghen claimed the game's only goal with 15 minutes remaining at White Hart Lane, crisply dispatching a free kick from Kyle Walker to register his first goal in the English top flight.
