The Hong Kong Sinfonietta concludes its Beethoven Cycle with the German composer's first and last symphonies: No1 in C (Op. 21) and No 9 in D minor (Op. 125), Choral, which has the famous Ode to Joy tune in its final movement.

Opening takes on an Olympic flavour

ON a chilly March morning more than 300 young people burst into the tropical surroundings of the Hongkong Park.

They assembled in an amphitheatre of white stone. From there, a spectacular scene unfolded: this unusual surrounding, where ancient Greece meets modern China, provided a very special atmosphere for the start of the fourth Asian French School Games.
