Legend of the '80s still pulls fans

Legendary 1980s pop icon Duran Duran will appear in Hong Kong in March next year as part of the All You Need Is Now world tour.

It will be the band's first concert in Hong Kong since the 2008 Red Carpet Massacre tour.

Psychedelic band delights HK

Rock band MGMT's first appearance in Hong Kong played to a packed audience at Kitec Star Hall.

When the five-member band mounted the stage, the audience went wild. People of all ages rose to their feet to move in time to the beats of the band that was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance at the 2010 Grammys.

In 2008, the world couldn't get enough of MGMT. They were the new indie darlings and soon found themselves with a clutch of crossover hits, such as the epic Kids (with that incessantly sticky refrain 'Control yourself ...') and Electric Feel.

Hurts finds happiness

Hurts, the new British pop duo from Manchester, consisting of vocalist Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, is all set for the release of their debut album Happiness.

Their brand of what they call 'emotional pop music' seems to be attracting fans, and they have played sold-out live shows in Manchester and London this year.

For Brooklyn duo MGMT, Oracular Spectacular was a groundbreaking debut that launched the band into the limelight. It led to their working with The Flaming Lips.

This year, they were nominated for two Grammys, but both came up empty.

Nevertheless, MGMT were on the map and their talent had been noticed.
