Firemen's air cushion saves suicidal woman

A 67-year-old woman survived a suicide attempt yesterday when she landed on an air cushion set up by firemen below her 35th-floor Wong Tai Sin flat. The woman, who jumped while firemen were trying to break into her flat, was taken conscious to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.

Taoist temple to get HK$140 million revamp

Wong Tai Sin's Taoist temple is to receive a HK$140 million revamp to boost its capacity by a third and construct the biggest hall of its kind in China.

Sik Sik Yuen - a Taoist, Buddhist and Confucian charity organisation that runs the temple - has revealed details of the revamp, which begins this month, for completion by 2010.

Updated at 6.01pm: Police on Tuesday appeal to the public to help find a girl and a man who have both gone missing in separate cases.
