Restaurant review: Chicha

The Latin fever in Hong Kong’s restaurant scene is showing no sign of abating. While tapas places are springing up like champiñóns, the trend has now spread to less familiar cuisines. Take Chicha for example.

Restaurant review: 22 Ships

The bar facing the kitchen at 22 Ships.

Despite all that’s happening in Spain – a debt crisis and the looming threat of Catalonia’s secession – Spanish food is all the rage in Hong Kong.

Catalan adventure

The Boqueria in Central has a lively atmosphere.

If you've been to Barcelona, you'd probably agree there's something irresistable about the city's tapas bars. Good food, plenty of drink and a casual yet lively atmosphere always make for a great night out.

Tudy's Tasca Portuguesa

Fare A tasca is the Portuguese equivalent of an English pub or a Spanish tapas bar, where beverages are accompanied by small platters of food. This is possibly the only restaurant in Hong Kong serving primarily Portuguese tapas.

It's fun in the dark with the lights out

It's natural that when the lights go down, people want to drink and party. Well, tomorrow night's Earth Hour action might be a call to save energy and protect the environment, but it's also a good excuse to whoop it up.

Tapas-loving chef brings a touch of Spanish style to new bar

Most people probably know tapas is the Spanish equivalent of dim sum, but the owners of Uno Mas clearly felt few here are knowledgeable enough to cook tapas. That's why they imported chef David Izquierdo Jover (pictured with his wife Annabel Del Rio Velazquez) to rule over the tapas counter at the new Lockhart Bar.

Bangsar is where Kuala Lumpur's chic and trendy go to be seen and where high-margin businesses have pushed out the family-run provisions shops and mini markets of old. Now one of the Malaysian capital's hottest suburbs, it's party central - and woe betide anyone who tries to find a parking spot on a weekend evening.
