Reid loss

Nearly $5.5 million worth of assets will be stripped from disgraced former Hong Kong prosecutor Warwick Reid after a judge made the order in the New Zealand High Court. The assets include Reid's home in Tauranga, and his gymnasium and cash in a family trust.

Timber trade boosts NZ port

Port of Tauranga, a New Zealand port manager, says its first-half profit rose 19.6 per cent, reflecting an increase in cargo volumes, especially timber.

Net profit in the six months to December 31 was NZ$5.3 million (about HK$23.8 million), or 6.9 cents a share, from $4.4 million, or 5.8 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier.
