Kettle collection

In 1891, Salvation Army officer Joseph McFee hung a big red kettle in a busy San Francisco street, collecting for meals for the elderly over Christmas.

In doing so, he began a Christmas tradition in the US which has spread worldwide, providing millions of hot meals for the needy.

IT'S A BREW ROMANCE

It sounds more complicated to brew a prefect cup of tea than it actually is. Start by washing the teapot and cups with hot water, then put a generous pinch of tea leaves in the pot. Rinse these with hot water and pour away the first brew. The first pouring isn't drunk; the third brew is said to taste best.

WINNING TEA WARE TO GO on display

Tea ware designed by locals will be exhibited at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, Hong Kong Park, starting from Wednesday.

The exhibition, Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters 2005, features 97 pieces of contemporary tea ware and vessels related to tea drinking created by 70 locals.

They were selected from the Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters competition last year.
