Sports Institute back at Sha Tin

The Hong Kong Sports Institute yesterday celebrated the completion of the first phase of the HK$1.8 billion redevelopment project in Sha Tin and welcomed back its elite athletes, who had been forced to train at temporary facility in Wu Kwai Sha.

Flying the flag

Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa gave his support to SAR athletes at an Asian Games flag presentation ceremony held at Government House last week.

Hong Kong will send its largest-ever contingent comprising more than 300 athletes and officials to the 14th Asian Games to be held from September 29 to October 14 in the South Korean port city of Busan.

HK athletes reap rewards for success

A RECORD number of athletes have been named into this year's Hongkong Sports Institute scholarship scheme.

Sixteen sports will benefit from this year's scheme with 236 athletes from 15 sports so far being named.

Badminton bronze

HONGKONG collected their eighth bronze medal last night through the mixed doubles badminton team Chan Siu-kwong and Chung Hoi-yuk, who had been knocked out in the semi-finals the previous evening.
