Asian Cup to showcase top players in Hong Kong

The Asian Cup will feature the top 16 men's and women's singles players in the region, who will be vying for US$100,000 in prize money. Each country will be allowed to send a maximum of two players in each category.

Tie Yana into semi-finals with victory over HK teammate

Hong Kong's Tie Yana reached the semi-finals of the women's World Cup in Singapore after a 4-1 victory over teammate Jiang Huajun last night. Playing in her 10th consecutive World Cup event, which features the top 16 players, Tie (pictured) cruised to the win despite losing the first game 11-7.

HK's Olympic medal prospect says having a baby comes first

Having a baby is the priority for Hong Kong stars Tie Yana and Tang Peng - even if it means Tie has to miss next year's Olympics, the couple said yesterday.

Tie and Tang returned yesterday from the world championships in Rotterdam and Tie insisted a baby would come before a third consecutive appearance at the Olympics.

Tie claims two titles as HK dominate

Tie Yana scored a notable personal double as Hong Kong collected three of the four titles on offer at the Korea Open yesterday - one of the SAR's best results on the ITTF Pro Tour.

In the absence of the formidable Chinese legion, Hong Kong had little difficulty in winning the three finals - the women's singles and doubles, and the men's doubles in Jeonju.
