Japan Airlines to suspend flights from Narita

Japan Airlines will temporarily suspend flights between Hong Kong and Tokyo's Narita airport for three weeks starting from April 6 because of the fall in passenger demand following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. A total of 42 JAL flights will be cancelled until April 27. Services between the city and Tokyo's Haneda airport have so far been unaffected.

Landing slots in Tokyo and Seoul will be offered to Chinese airlines that agree to open scheduled services to Brazil and other un-served South American and African destinations, the General Administration for Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) said.

Traffic soars as record 3.79m pass through airport in April

Hong Kong International Airport, Asia's third-busiest by passenger traffic, handled a record-breaking 3.79 million passengers last month.

Thanks to the Easter holidays and the Guangzhou Trade Fair, Chek Lap Kok airport also saw robust growth in aircraft movements and cargo handling volume.
