Bush urged to focus on Tibet

The Bush administration has been urged to pay more attention to Tibetan issues during a House Committee on Foreign Affairs hearing in Washington.

Tibetan rights advocates said they were encouraged that the hearing was one of the first on China held by the new Democrat-controlled Congress.

No help for journalists' families

Yahoo has admitted it has done nothing to help the families of mainland journalist Shi Tao and cyber-dissident Li Zhi, both imprisoned with the help of information the company supplied to the government.

In last week's congressional hearing in the United States, Congressman Tom Lantos demanded to know whether Yahoo had offered assistance to the men's families.
