Double warms up Corrales

SOUTH American ace Juan Corrales starts a suspension today for careless riding but grabbed honours for the meeting with a double at shivery Taipa last night.

The temperature plunged and the crowd with it as less than 3,000 turned up for the special night meeting held in the wake of yesterday's Macau Grand Prix.

Dual Derby rides land Ives in strife

ENGLISH ace Tony Ives, declared to ride two horses in Sunday's Macau Derby, now has no ride in the race and is to appear at a Tony Cruz saw both sides of racing at Happy Valley last night. He rode a double to take him to 50 winners for the season but was then lucky to escape injury in the fifth when thrown from his mount, Rare Encounter.

Ives gives some cheer to punters

SHIVERING Taipa punters found it hard going yesterday with only two favourites obliging on the 10-event card - but English ace Tony Ives send them home on a happy note. The flame-haired Yorkshireman's topsy-turvy season hit another upswing when solidly-backed Hi-Secret landed a gamble in the Class Four nightcap, easily accounting for Sofeness in the Class Four, 1,200-metre event.
