Buying package tours is no time to be naive

Package tours are designed to make holidays trouble-free. With the travel arrangements, hotel, food and sightseeing taken care of, all that is required is to show up at the designated time. That is at least how the idea is supposed to work. Most times it does, but as we report today, in an increasing number of instances, it does not.

Elderly given raw deal on discounts

To make ferry bookings easier than having to hoof it all the way to Shun Tak Centre, presumably, Grayline Tours runs a ferry ticket-selling operation at the Admiralty MTR concourse, but cannot offer the discounts normally available to the elderly when they buy directly from the tour operator, although other tickets are priced the same at both outlets.

Competition

I would like to propose a competition in the new millennium, to identify '10 scenic spots' in the Hong Kong SAR.

This event should serve a multitude of purposes.

It would be fun for local people and tourists.

Unique historical sites, areas of natural beauty and magnificent modern structures would all be eligible.
