Truck runs into shop, kills woman

An elderly woman was killed and two other passers-by injured yesterday when a broken-down crane truck rolled down a slope and crashed into a grocery shop.

The vehicle had just been unhooked from a tow truck that was not powerful enough to pull it uphill on Eastern Street, Western district.

Elderly taxi driver decapitated in crash with tow truck

A 70-year-old taxi driver was decapitated yesterday when his vehicle collided with a tow truck.

The accident happened at 12.40am when the taxi hit the truck while overtaking on a two-lane slip road off the Fanling Highway.

The two vehicles were heading towards toward Yuen Long on the Lok Ma Chau Interchange, a police spokesman said.

Bus driver dies after hitting police car

A coach driver died in an accident involving a police vehicle and a tow truck on the North Lantau Highway yesterday.The coach slammed into the police vehicle, which had stopped at the roadside after bursting a tyre. The police vehicle then crashed into the tow truck, whose driver was helping police change the tyre. The 51-year-old coach driver died shortly after being taken to hospital.

Truck driver, 26, killed in collision

A 26-year-old tow-truck driver was killed when his vehicle rammed into the rear of a container truck on the San Tin Highway early yesterday. The crash took place shortly after midnight near Mai Po Lung. The man was taken to North District Hospital, where he was certified dead.

Simple removal impossible

Your correspondent 'Name and Address Supplied' (letter headlined, 'Long wait', South China Morning Post, May 1) complained about congestion on the Lung Cheung Road during the morning rush hour on April 25, and incorrectly assumed that this was caused by police enforcement action against a lorry driver.
