SOUTH Africa's flag carrier South African Airways (SAA) has high hopes that its new frequent-flyer programme, Voyager, will take off in Hong Kong.

According to Marie-Helene Maguire - SAA's manager for Hong Kong, Macau and China - tourist and business traffic between South Africa and Hong Kong has surged since President Nelson Mandela's election victory.

South Africa ticket deal

SOUTH African Airways (SAA) has signed an inter-line agreement with Air China allowing tickets to be sold in one another's countries.

Previously, mainland Chinese wanting to fly to South Africa had to fly to Singapore or Hong Kong to buy SAA tickets, and South Africans could not buy Air China tickets in their country.
