Warning to betting-chip agents

Police issued a stern warning to 'mud-chip' agents yesterday after a passenger of a casino ship was beaten by four to six men on board a shuttle ferry on Saturday.

A female agent, 35, was arrested on Monday night in connection with the assault. Anti-triad officers were still looking for the attackers last night.

Two injured as Star Ferry and fishing boat collide in harbour

The Marine Department has launched an investigation into a head-on collision between a Star Ferry vessel and a fishing boat in Victoria Harbour that left two people slightly injured yesterday.

The double-deck 'Day Star' ferry, carrying 31 passengers and six crew members, was heading from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui when the accident happened at 10.30am.

Royal touch

Gary Robinson, who worked for seven years as a private chef for Britain's Prince of Wales, has been appointed executive chef at the Kowloon Shangri-La in Tsim Sha Tsui. The Scot's previous position was at the Aberdeen Marina Club. He has also worked in Dubai.

Kowloon traffic halted by city's second burst main in two days

Traffic in Kowloon's busy downtown was severely affected most of the day yesterday after a freshwater pipe had burst in Tsim Sha Tsui.

At about 6.30am, the 25-year-old underground pipe suddenly began gushing water onto Nathan Road between Salisbury and Middle roads - one of West Kowloon's busiest intersections.
