Suspect tries to snatch gun

A suspected burglar tried to snatch a police revolver in an ambulance while being escorted by two officers from Tsing Yi police station to Yan Chai Hospital for a medical check-up. The 25-year-old suspect, who was handcuffed, put up a struggle and tried to snatch one of the officer's guns in Sha Tsui Road near the junction of Ham Tin Street, Tsuen Wan, at about 10.30am.

Murder charge

Police charged a 17-year-old boy with one count of murder over the death of a man, 22, in Cheung Hong Estate, Tsing Yi, on April 4. Another two teenage boys have already appeared in court charged with murder.

Graduate found 20 days on

A university graduate reported missing by her parents about 20 days ago was found at a North Point hotel yesterday.

Leung Sze-man, 23, was discovered in the Newton Hotel on Electric Road at about 11am when an employee recognised her from a newspaper report about the police hunt.

She was taken to Tsing Yi police station and picked up by her parents.

Police are appealing for information about a university graduate missing since last month.

Leung Sze-man, 23, a graduate from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has not been seen since she left her Quarry Bay home at 11am on September 17.

A woman, 41, was found dead after reportedly plunging 19 floors at the Tsing Yi Police Married Quarters last night.

Tsing Yi members awarded for apprehending robber

One Sunday night in September, a woman and her husband were walking along Tai Hoi Road, Tsuen Wan. A man suddenly came out and snatched away the woman's necklace.

Her husband ran after the thief to Sha Tsui Road, where he met three students who immediately joined in the chase.

After a struggle, they subdued the suspect and handed him over to the police.

Four suspected car thieves were arrested after a car chase that began in Tsing Yi and ended in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Police site re-zoned as developers eye prime locations

THE Causeway Bay Police Station in Electric Road has been declared redundant and the site re-zoned for commercial use.

A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the station was no longer needed by the Royal Hong Kong Police Force. He said 0.13 hectares of the site would be switched to commercial use while the remaining 0.06 hectares would be open space.

Officer dies

A POLICE constable who collapsed and died in his Tsing Yi home is believed to have suffered a heart attack. The 41-year-old was found lying unconscious in his flat on the 13th floor, Block B, of police quarters at Tsing Yi Heung Sze Wui Road.
