Boy's death is still 'unanswered'

The family of a boy who died after an operation in Tuen Mun Hospital say they want more details about his death. Medwin Cheung Yui-ting, 13, was diagnosed with a misalignment of two vertebrae in his neck. He underwent a corrective operation on August 4, but died 18 days later.

Canopy falls, crushing man's leg

A man was seriously injured when a large concrete canopy broke off a wall and plunged on to the outdoor portion of a shop in Tuen Mun yesterday.

The 40-metre by two-metre concrete slab fell off the Winfield Industrial Building in Kin Kwan Street, crushing the man's leg and three vehicles.

The Buildings Department has launched an investigation.

Pedestrian, 90, and motorcyclist killed

An elderly pedestrian and a motorcyclist were killed in two traffic accidents yesterday. The 90-year-old was crossing Tai Fong Street, Tuen Mun, when he was hit by a truck at 5.52am. He was trapped under the vehicle and had to be freed by firemen. He was declared dead at Tuen Mun Hospital. In the second fatality, a motorbike and double-decker collided in King's Road, North Point.

Former husband faces murder charge

A 44-year-old man charged yesterday with murder will appear in Tuen Mun Court today. He allegedly stabbed his ex-wife, 39, in Tuen Mun on Tuesday and was arrested just before 11pm at Light Rail's Affluence station, where a fruit knife was found. The woman was declared dead in Tuen Mun Hospital on Wednesday.

Driver collapses at wheel of vehicle

A 57-year-old driver collapsed while driving a light goods vehicle on Castle Peak Road in Tuen Mun at 1.20pm yesterday. He was certified dead at 4.40pm. Police said that after the driver collapsed, the vehicle hit roadside railings and stopped. The driver and two male passengers were admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital. The two passengers were discharged after treatment.

Gang suspect fights for life after ambush

A suspected triad member was fighting for his life in hospital after he was beaten with a metal stand and umbrella in an apparent ambush by about 10 gangsters in a McDonald's restaurant in Tin Shui Wai at about 4am yesterday. The gang fled in two cars. The 25-year-old, surnamed Poon, was in critical condition in Tuen Mun Hospital last night.
