Tumblr is an online blogging forum founded by high school dropout David Karp. Yahoo bought Tumblr for US$1.1 billion in May 2013.  Tumblr also runs one of the world’s busiest websites, featuring 75 million daily posts.

The K-pop superstars had the most tweeted account on Twitter for the fourth year in a row, which also made theirs the most tweeted musician account and the most tweeted K-pop account. They slipped to fourth spot on Tumblr.

This is one of those stories that make you rethink what it means when a foreign website is banned in China. In this case, people in the country can’t access Tumblr without a VPN, but it hasn’t stopped many from scaling the Great Firewall to access the site’s vast collection of adult content. It shows that if people want something badly enough, they’ll find a way to get it, especially if there’s no equivalent in China.

Yahoo’s board has approved a deal to purchase the popular blogging platform Tumblr for US$1.1 billion (HK$8.5 billion) in cash, according to a report on Monday.
