As part of the government's effort to increase land supply, the Planning Department has begun a two-month consultation on the extension of Tung Chung New Town. With the building of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, Tung Chung is attracting developers.

Tung Chung the perfect place for headquarters

It is always a pleasure to read Jake van der Kamp's 'Monitor' column.

His column on May 2 about the Government's plan to build its headquarters at the Tamar site was especially timely. There is no financial logic behind using this valuable site for government offices.

Charm-free MTR needs make-over

Lai See doesn't think the great MTRC privatisation will be a fantastic success. Not because the offer doesn't include nice tunnels, choo-choo trains, signalling equipment and those helpful people who warn against getting your grandmother caught in the escalator, but because it has no character.

Train delay

Thousands of passengers on the Airport Express and Tung Chung line were delayed at lunchtime yesterday after a signalling failure suspended services between Hong Kong and Tsing Yi stations.
