Mainland ports see surge in cargo

The mainland's two largest ports - Shanghai and Shenzhen - saw container throughput volumes rise 3.5 per cent last month, about half the combined increase in the value of the country's foreign trade.

Shanghai overtook Singapore as the world's busiest container port in April and Shenzhen displaced Hong Kong as the world's third-busiest in July.

Singamas container output rebounds

Singamas Container Holdings, the world's second-largest container maker, has seen box manufacturing rebound to almost 2007 levels following the recent recovery in global trade volumes.
