Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood slams Dnipro pitch after 1-0 Europa League defeat

Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood criticised the state of the pitch after his side were beaten 1-0 in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 tie at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine on Thursday.

The match was played despite the political unrest in the country’s capital Kiev, which lies some 220 miles (354 km) from the Dnipro Arena in the eastern city of Dnipropetrovsk.

Cable TV keeps grip on Champions League

Pay TV operator Cable TV says it will broadcast Uefa Champions League and Uefa Europa League soccer matches over the next three seasons until 2015 after securing the broadcasting rights. It did not disclose the bidding price. Meanwhile, rival Now TV says it will continue to air the Spanish La Liga until the 2014/15 season.

UI Cup future in doubt

UEFA may scrap the UI Cup competition because of a boycott by several major federations.

UEFA secretary general Gerhard Aigner said that England, Italy, Spain and Portugal continued to ignore the 60-team summer competition guaranteeing the best three teams berths in the UEFA Cup.
