United Services Recreation Club

Pleasant 'oasis' has shed its colonial past

I must protest at the article by Liam Fitzpatrick in Post Magazine, on November 17, on the United Services Recreation Club (USRC) in Gascoigne Road, Kowloon.

Highly cosmopolitan membership

Liam Fitzpatrick shared with Post Magazine readers his recollection of the United Services Recreation Club (USRC), in the article headlined 'Club sandwiched' (November 17).

I wholeheartedly agree with him that the USRC prides itself on catering to people from all walks of life, both internationally and domestically.

Setting the right tone for the PLA

Although its membership is mostly civilian now, the decor at the United Services Recreation Club in Kowloon still reflects its origins as an officers' club - with paintings of military exploits such as the suicidal Charge of the Light Brigade and the like prominently featured.
