Huawei Technologies and ZTE - China's biggest telecommunications equipment manufacturers - have been accused of patent infringement in a case filed by InterDigital with the United States International Trade Commission.

Dumping legislation denounced

AN American trade commissioner in Hongkong yesterday lashed out at anti-dumping laws.

''It would be nice if we didn't have the dumping laws. And we are moving in that direction,'' said Ms Anne Brunsdale, of the International Trade Commission (ITC), an independent agency which rules on dumping cases.

Ruling backs dye importers

THE United States International Trade Commission has ruled that sulphur dyes imported to the US from China and Britain do not harm the US dye industry.

Although the dyes were sold in the United States at less than fair value, the commission said, that did not harm the three US firms operating in the area.

Customs told to stop tariffs

A TRADE court has ordered the US customs service to stop collecting punitive tariffs levied on sweater imports from Hongkong.

The order follows the revised ruling by the International Trade Commission (ITC) in November that sweater imports from Hongkong, Taiwan, and South Korea were not hurting American sweater manufacturers.
