More bytes than we can chew

People of earth, behold the zettabyte! Not sure what a zettabyte is? Well, it isn't another ill-conceived attempt at an MP3 player by Microsoft and it isn't the name of an electro band from Berlin. (Not yet, anyway.)

Big numbers add up to make storage sexy

With the world creating more terabytes of data, large firms are not so much worried about capacity nowadays as they are manageability

The digital era is throwing up some mind-boggling statistics: 62 billion e-mails are sent every day; 1 billion songs are shared via peer-to-peer every month; 1.5 billion terabytes of data is created every year.

Samsung chip causes bit of confusion over bytes

Samsung recently announced it was developing a die for a one-giga DRAM chip - the first 1G DRAM in the world, with 1,074 million fully working cells.

The company went on to talk about how it was designed to 0.18 micron (in other words, it works on a fine measure of geometry) and would have high speed and low power consumption.
