The Great Halloween Creep Out

Ocean Park is celebrating its fifth Halloween Bash this year with five creepy new attractions.

The Wasteland, The Lost World, Haunted Chinese Village, Psychotic Island and Carnival of Chaos were all created with terror in mind.

The Scorpion King will swing into muscle-rippling action against his enemies at the Halloween celebrations at Ocean Park next month.

Four Seas bosses 'abused' status

Four Seas Travel International bosses Leung Hoi and Leung Yeung Lai-ling have been accused of 'abusing their positions' for personal profit and deliberately thwarting rescue bids by new majority shareholders.

Deal over Valenta stake sale

Universal Appliances has entered into a conditional sales and purchase agreement to dispose of the entire issued share capital of its subsidiary, Valenta Holdings, a printed circuit board manufacturer. According to the arrangement, Universal will receive US$44.5 million on completion of the agreement.

Plaza deal

Mainland property developer Dong-Jun (Holdings) has agreed to sell 186,217 square feet of Universal Plaza in Guangzhou to an independent third party for $400 million.

Its 60 per cent owned subsidiary Newmay Development, owner of Universal Plaza, will provide $200 million in financing to the buyer and has agreed to lease the space for two years at $32 million a year.

Arnold's 3D ride

SUPERSTAR Arnold Schwarzenegger is shooting scenes for a 3-D film involved in the Terminator 2 thrill ride for the Universal Studios Florida theme park.

It is reported MCA, Universal's parent company is spending more than US$50 million (HK$380 million) on the projected attraction.

BEFORE the decade is out, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida will be joined by Universal Studios Japan.

Construction of the theme park/studio is scheduled to begin in Osaka in 1996, with a 1999 opening planned. To date, there are no plans for a Euro Universal, and certainly not near Paris.
