Hong Kong is still a key car market in Asia. Recession-hit marques might unveil their latest cars in booming Beijing or Shanghai, but they also know Hong Kong owners have developed brand loyalties for generations and are arguably more discerning.Friday, 1 June, 2012, 12:00am
Tseung Kwan O will be the centre of Hong Kong's car world this evening, when Maserati dealer Auto Italia unveils the new GranTurismo MC Stradale at the Shaw Studios.
Launched at September's Paris motor show and presented tonight by celebrity Charles Kwan, the MC Stradale (HK$2,343,100) is 'the fastest, lightest and most powerful' Maserati available, the Italian marque says.6 May 2011 - 12:00am
Look at a car from a distance and you might learn something about its owner. Run your fingers along its brightwork and you may sense the culture of the people who built it. Cars might seem increasingly similar as marques merge and their designers hop from city to city in cyberspace, but most are symbols of national identity.6 Aug 2010 - 12:00am
Hong Kong summers are always demanding on cars and their owners. The heat and damp that used to blow Jaguar gaskets and reduce MGBs to rust now challenge Japanese and German electronics. Then there's the stifling pollution and the risk of typhoons and their detritus on drives. But some cars can help you through the sticky season, and for reasons you might not hear in local showrooms.3 Jul 2010 - 12:00am
Until recently, BMW seemed to have all the bases covered with its range of 18 distinct model shapes, surely the widest portfolio of any car manufacturer. From the two-seat Z4 to the 1-Series hatchback, to saloons, coup?s and estates, not forgetting the X-Series SUVs, there didn't appear to be a niche that wasn't covered.8 Jan 2010 - 12:00am

BMW's latest 7-Series seems to think for itself, a constant adviser to anyone who seeks a second opinion in the art of driving. Packed with advanced engineering, the 750Li is so intelligent it could probably even tell you how to handle every bend and straight, in any language, if it was allowed to speak.21 Feb 2009 - 12:00am
No one can accuse BMW of sitting on its laurels. Barely a year into the life of its much-hyped X6, the German automotive giant has announced an upgrade model of the crossover SUV, one featuring a 4.4-litre Twin Turbo-charged V8 engine. The powered-up X6xDrive50i deploys an amazing 407 horsepower and 600 Nm torque, accelerating from 0-100km/h in a breezy 5.4 seconds.1 Aug 2008 - 12:00am
What drives it? A 4.2-litre V8 with a six-speed ZF automatic transmission on 18-inch wheels.
How fast is it? Very. The 400-horsepower V8 pumps out 460Nm of torque at 4,520rpm, reaches 100km/h in 5.6 seconds and tops out at 270km/h.2 Feb 2008 - 12:00am
The Defender lands in HK
The new Land Rover Defender (right) has arrived in Gloucester Road and looks just right for rugged trips to Wellcome - and the odd Landie club run to Sichuan.
Land Rover Hong Kong will import 90 soft top, 110 station wagon and 110 crew cab pickup 3 series models, says the dealer's spokeswoman, Maggie Wong.22 Dec 2007 - 12:00am
What's new, pussycat?
This is Jaguar's most literal design interpretation of its marque yet; the C-XF is sleek, fast, powerful and aggressive-looking. Despite the intimidating appearance, its user-friendliness will have everyone making catcalls for a test drive, but they will have to wait until next spring for its release in Asia.

There's an art to handling the biggest, plushest Bentley in Hong Kong, and I'm receiving driving advice some socialites might seek. 'Remember that the Arnage RL is a big car and, at 5.64 metres, about as long as a minibus,' says the kindly Bentley guy, who doesn't want to be named.16 Jun 2007 - 12:00am
