A Chinese woman charged with defacing the Washington National Cathedral has been linked to at least four other incidents of vandalism at US landmarks, including at the Lincoln Memorial, according to prosecutors and court documents.

People's Daily's anti-American rant backfires as Chinese teen trashes ancient Egyptian temple

A Nanjing teenager's act of vandalism - he scratched the words "Ding Jinhao was here" in Chinese characters on a 35-century-old sculpture - struck a raw nerve in a in a country so proud of its ancient civilisation. And, embarrassingly, it followed an astonishing attack by the Communist Party mouthpiece that labelled Americans untrustworthy and lacking in integrity.

Microblog justice can be too harsh

Tourists have been scrawling their names on noteworthy objects since the dawn of travel. Young mainland boy Ding Jinhao was following the well-worn, but unlawful, practice years ago when he scratched characters into a 3,500-year-old pillar while visiting a temple in the Egyptian city of Luxor with his parents.

Vandal throws paint over Black Madonna of Czestochowa

Polish police detained a 58-year-old man after he threw vials of black paint at the Black Madonna of Czestochowa, an ancient Catholic icon of the Virgin Mary believed to work miracles.

A pane of glass over the painting protected it from any damage during the incident on Sunday, local police spokeswoman Joanna Lazar said.

US snowboarding Olympian Shaun White busted over drunken tear

Two-time Olympic snowboarding gold medallist Shaun White has been charged with public intoxication and vandalism after an incident at a Nashville hotel.

White, 26, was a guest at the Loews Vanderbilt in the Tennessee city where the incident took place on Sunday.

Vandals smash into Sing Tao news building

Vandals drove a car through a glass wall at Sing Tao News Corporation’s office in Shau Kei Wan early on Thursday morning.

The car reversed into the glass wall at the entrance of Sing Tao’s building at 3 Tong Wong Road shortly after 3am, smashing two panels. The drivers then fled the scene.

Judging by some of the facades of our beautiful city, spray-painted graffiti is on the rise.

While the police do not keep numbers on graffiti incidents, the Sunday Morning Post has spotted many prohibited markings - or 'tags' in the lingua franca of graffiti - throughout Hong Kong Island.
