Ferrari shows class at Vertu party

High-end phonemaker Vertu held a casual cocktail party at Habitu the Pier last month to show off its latest phones and promote its store in the Ocean Terminal. The event was first class all the way, with a Ferrari on the patio, an Italian buffet, and half a million dollars worth of diamond and gold mobile phones.

The excuse was to attend Vertu's press conference for their new Ascent Racetrack Legend phone series - named after six famous car-racing circuits - but the real reason was to play with the F1 simulators at the Sideways Racing Club, an upscale arcade with very cool machines recently opened on Chancery Lane, Central.

Vertu puts in a call for luxury

The seriously wealthy now have another way of flaunting their riches with a mobile phone priced at HK$152,000.

Vertu, a subsidiary of Nokia, released hand-crafted mobile phones for sale in Hong Kong this month. The company said the phones would be available in June and had attracted orders, but it refused to say how many.
