Lang 'can help China return to glory'

Former Olympic gold medallist Zhao Ruirui believes the Chinese women's team could return to their former glory under new coach Lang Ping, a Chinese volleyball legend.

The 52-year-old Lang was appointed national coach for a second time two months ago.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering former Dutch Olympic volleyball player Ingrid Visser and her partner in what Spanish police believe may be a business-related incident. Visser, 35, and Lodewijk Severein, 57, were reported missing on May 17, the Spanish police said. Two bodies fitting their descriptions were found in a shallow grave in a lemon grove outside Murcia on Sunday.

China show Puerto Rico no mercy

China proved they would be the team to watch at the Olympic Games this summer after a convincing victory over Puerto Rico in their FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix opening match at the Macau Forum last night.

Despite the absence of top spiker Wang Yimei due to injury, the Chinese women showed their opponents no mercy, winning the pool A match in straight sets.
