A whole new fun ride

Hong Kong's Disneyland will open its newest attraction: a high-speed roller coaster and themed area based on the California gold rush.

Grizzly Gulch, which will open in July, is the second of a three-stage expansion following Toy Story Land, which opened late last year. The third part, Mystic Point, is scheduled to open next year.

Students in Disney win

Savannah College of Arts and Design students' Monsters Inc-themed attraction zone has won Hong Kong Disneyland's first Walt Disney Imagineering ImagiNations Design Competition.

Up to 70 teams from nine local universities and institutions took part. Runners-up were Polytechnic University's The Wall.EFactory and Design Institute's Dream Weavers.

Imagining Disney anew

About 70 teams submitted applications in September to Hong Kong Disneyland's first Walt Disney Imagineering ImagiNations Design Competition.

The amusement park had invited locals to design a planned attraction zone, rides and a hotel.

Applicants include 300 students from eight local universities, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Vocational Training Centre.
