A family history in antiques set up Andy Hei for role in Fine Art Asia fair

Andy Hei is where he is today because antiques are in his blood. In 1948, at the age of 15, his father began working as an apprentice in a relative's curio shop. Years later, in 1970, Hei senior left that job to set up an antique business in Chungking Mansions.

Donald Tsang Yam-kuen's administration was inimical to good town planning, with his propensity for large-scale projects and almost complete insensitivity for neighbourhood and nostalgic sentiment.

Adult Expo too sexy for HK, claims organiser

A year has gone by but the Asia Adult Expo is still no nearer to being given a slot at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The fifth Asia Adult Expo, along with the first Intimate Lingerie Asia, will be staged from August 17 to 19 at Hall D in the Venetian in Macau.

Sailors' haunt aims to go up in world

An organisation that has been welcoming the world's navies to Hong Kong for decades is hoping to offer them better hospitality in future by expanding their centre at Wan Chai's Fenwick Pier.

The Servicemen's Guides Association wants to add a restaurant, lounge and an arts space by extending a single-storey section of its base three floors upwards.

Developers brought back down to earth

Central Plaza, the 78-storey skyscraper run by Sun Hung Kai Properties in Wan Chai North, has many distinctions to its credit. Among these is the record for Hong Kong's tallest building, a title which it held until 2003 when Two IFC - in which its developer SHKP also has a stake - was completed.

6m people attended events last year at convention centre. Empty shell? Hardly

I refer to the letter by Jean Afford ('No need for more ugly monstrosities', February 26).

Fortunately, those who are really interested and listen are very aware that the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is one of the top venues of its type in the world.
