With government's office rental bill HK$750m, why demolish west wing?

Redeveloping the west wing of the former government headquarters for commercial use is unjustified when officials are spending more than HK$750 million a year to rent private office space for their use, according to conservationists.

Hopewell banks on Wan Chai land revaluation gain

Hopewell Holdings aims to book a land revaluation gain of HK$2 billion over the next few years from its new project, Hopewell Centre II.

Hopewell managing director Thomas Jefferson Wu said the estimated market value of Hopewell's portion of the site on which the project will be built was HK$4.1 billion.

Masked men attack newspaper office

Police are hunting four assailants who strode into the offices of a radical online newspaper and destroyed its equipment yesterday.

The masked men marched into Independent Media's (In-media) ninth-floor office on Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, at around 1.20pm and smashed computers and a television before fleeing, the paper said.
