Kai Tak roads may be moved to give public access to harbourfront

Roads around the former airport runway at Kai Tak could be set back from the waterfront and made narrower to open the area for the public to enjoy, the government suggests.

Waterfront's ambience at risk, harbour activists fear

Members of the Harbourfront Enhancement Committee are worried that new pump rooms and utilities will ruin the ambience and accessibility of the new Central waterfront.

The members warned that diners at future restaurants along the harbourfront might not be able to eat outside if construction plans did not take into account the future possible uses for the area.

In his letter ('How to save fuel and reduce our petrol outlay', June 23), Tommy Hui, former advisory committee chairman, mechanical engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University suggested 'measures we can take to make our costs lower and to use fuel more efficiently in our vehicles'.

Symphony of light

Bursts of colour light up the sky above the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during last night's International Musical Fireworks Competition. About 290,000 people packed the waterfront to watch teams from Hong Kong and Italy strive to outdo each other with an impressive display of music and lights. Japan will take on the United States on Sunday in the two-part contest.

Registrations pass 100 for Waterfront

More than 100 prospective buyers have been registered for the sale of 46 flats at The Waterfront development at Kowloon Station.

A spokesman for project manager USI Holdings said the developers were satisfied with the figure after the three-day registration period ended yesterday.

The sale is on Sunday.

WingTai Asia puts 32 luxury units on market

Developer WingTai Asia will release 32 luxury units at its Waterfront development at Kowloon Station for sale next week at an average price of $5,678 per square foot, according to the company.

Analysts said the developer had sold more than 200 units during an internal sale last month, for an average price of about $7,000 per square foot.

WingTai flats target rapid start to sales

Developer WingTai Asia could begin internal sales of The Waterfront - its six-tower luxury project at the airport railway's Kowloon Station - as early as next week, according to property agents.

The developer received consent from the Government this week to sell 705 of the 1,288 units in the project.

Marina plan on drawing board

ARCHITECTURAL firm RMJM Hong Kong is drafting a master plan for a marina club with first class leisure facilities in Shekou, Guangdong province.
