Young magicians to dazzle local audiences

Sos Petrosyan Junior, the 2009 winner of the most prestigious prize for magicians, the Merlin Award, will perform in Hong Kong.

Together with his brother Tigran, Sos is among the youngest professional magicians in the world.

The brothers come from a family of magicians. They have been doing magic tricks since they were young.

Dangerous road

I think many Whampoa Garden residents would agree with me that there should be a zebra-crossing at Tak Fung Street in front of the main entrance of the Jusco department store.

Children cross this street every morning and afternoon going to and from school. I see some motorists accelerating on this street and they care little for pedestrians.

Hutchison sees rents surge 20pc

Hutchison Whampoa's shopping centres recorded a 15 to 20 per cent increase in rental charges this year, ccording to Hutchison Whampoa Property director Tony Tsui Kin-tung.

The Wonderful Worlds of Whampoa at Whampoa Garden in Hunghom could fetch rental income of HK$300 million a year, Mr Tsui said.

The Buildings Department approved 24 building plans in November, the biggest being Sun Hung Kai Properties' luxury residential project in To Fung Shan, Sha Tin.

The developer has secured approval to build six 16-storey blocks of flats above seven podium levels which will provide a total of 592,000 square feet of residential space and 23,800 sq ft of non-residential areas.

Lexcon Investment has received a positive leasing response to a proposed 38,000 square foot arcade for Chinese-medicine related businesses in Whampoa Garden, Hunghom.

Lexcon said more than 50 parties had submitted expressions of interest in leasing units in the project.
