Tsang gives marathon the thumbs-up

The organisers want to expand and the chief executive also wants to see a bigger event

Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen hailed yesterday's Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon as a success, and urged organisers to make the event even better next year.

Organisers to lobby for run to start later

Organisers of this weekend's Standard Chartered Marathon will lobby the government to allow it to start at a later hour in future, the event's chairman said.

With entrants in the 10km race that accompanies the 42km run setting off as early as 5.15am, the early start was a distinguishing feature of the event, organising committee chairman William Ko Wai-lam said.

Chan's version of drug use 'needs further clarification'

THE Hong Kong Amateur Athletics Association (HKAAA) has yet to accept Chan Sau-yin's explanation for testing positive for ephedrine.

Chan tested positive for the banned substance at a June meeting in Zagreb.

A HKAAA committee heard her side of the story on Thursday after the hurdler gave officials a rundown of the events which led to her positive test.
