Bullets Over Summer

Mainland funding is a mixed blessing for Hong Kong filmmakers, according to director Wilson Yip Wai-shun, whose latest film is the action movie Flash Point.

Yip says working on mainland-Hong Kong co-productions can be limiting in terms of freedom to choose your subject matter.

Action ace on Point

Veteran director Wilson Yip Wai-shun said shooting his new action film, Flash Point, was his most difficult experience yet. 'I'm totally relieved now it's over,' he sais. 'It's just like escaping from hell.

'The cast was constantly getting injured while shooting. Perhaps some of them were old injuries, because many of them had acted in other action films.

His latest film, Flash Point, an action movie starring Donnie Yen Ji-dan set for release next month, is one of the most eagerly awaited local movies of the summer.

Wilson Yip, cast and crew wrap with banquet and ice for bruises

Shooting has finished on director Wilson Yip Wai-shun's action movie Flash Point and, following tradition, the cast and crew held a wrap banquet at Kai Tak airport's Aviation Club. There are extra reasons to celebrate finishing the film, which stars Donnie Yen Chi-tan (right).
