Portuguese leader and entourage arrive for handover ceremony

Portugal's President Jorge Sampaio arrived in Macau yesterday afternoon to formally hand the enclave back to China tomorrow.

He flew in from Lisbon aboard a chartered TAP-Air Portugal Airbus and was received by Governor General Vasco Rocha Vieira, Macau Xinhua director Wang Xiren, Bishop Dom Domingos Lam of the Macau Catholic diocese, and local and Chinese dignitaries.

Great expectations
