Activist Yao Lifa goes missing from home a day after his release

Detained rights activist Yao Lifa returned home briefly at the weekend but his wife was unsure of his whereabouts after he left home for work yesterday.

Yao, 53, a primary school teacher and activist in Qianjiang , Hubei , was taken away on June 20 and did not return home until late on Sunday - more than 10 weeks after going into detention.

Tycoon's concubine sues over 'eviction'

The mistress of a shipping tycoon is suing her lover after he tried to kick her and their son out of the family home they have been living in for 18 years.

Yao Chin-chieh stated in a High Court writ filed yesterday that she had begun a relationship with Koo Kou-mingin in 1968 and had given birth to the first of their sons, John Koo Chee-an, the following year.

Top cadres face trial in tax scandal

Two senior Guangdong cadres are likely to be put on trial soon after Communist Party anti-graft busters wound up an investigation into their alleged involvement in a tax-rebate scandal.
