Taiwan just cannot get enough of YouTube

In the past year, the number of viewing hours Taiwanese spent on video sharing site YouTube rocketed 60 per cent from 2012. Furthermore, the number of hours spent viewing videos on mobile phones increased threefold.

Google said on Tuesday that the YouTube page showcasing the Gangnam Style video by South Korean rapper Psy has reaped more than US$8 million in ad revenue.

Google chief business officer Nikesh Arora revealed the figure while discussing the money-making potential of YouTube during a quarterly earnings call with financial analysts.
